There were two people shot, and one friend of mine KILLED in my apartment. After telling manager Rick Mucklow that I did not feel safe in this apartment, and I wanted out of my lease, he responded with saying he did not know how to get his money if I did not continue to live in my apartment. He said that everythingthat happened in my apartment, we deserved ( meaning my friend DESERVED to die.) He told my room mate and I that we needed to scrub the carpet blood stain off our carpet (needless to say our lease was up so we were no longer responsible) This whole incident reminded me why everyone HATES northpointe. There is absolutely NO security. I was not aware, when I moved in, that there was a killing EVERY year at this complex. The complex misleads you by saying it's gated, by making you think that it is "secure." We also ALWAYS had maintainence walking in our apartment ALL the time without the 48 hours notice that the Arizona law requires (even after kindly reminding them they need to let us know in advance) I was woken up on SEVERAL occassions with maintainence coming in, unannounced, and being very LOUD. The complex takes advantage of the fact that young, naive, college students are living there. When I first signed my lease, the complex tried to charge me for a month that I did not live there. I believed that I was fnancially responsible for this, until I spoke with my mother (who has much knowledge about the law) and she told me that what they were doing was entirely illegal. Once I brought this to Northpointe's attention, they were very quick to change their minds on charging me for the month I did not live there. Needless to say, they advertise their rooms starting at 299/ month, and my lease says 339/month. I asked them about this and they said it was a misprint in FOR RENT magazine, well the following month it said the same price, and they have their ad FRAMED in the office, with the same advertised price..... the list goes on and on. The service at NP is unjust, and I suggest living elsewhere.
