Apartment Review
Nice apartments, horrible management

I lived in this apartment complex for over 2 years. I lived on the third floor and never once felt unsafe. I can't say I had a huge issue with bugs, but I did have a problem with bees. There is a little hole on the bottom of the windows to "let moisture out", but really bees just fly in there. I told the office staff about it. I was told they would come and spray inside and out. Well they may have sprayed outside, but they never came in my apartment to spray like I was told. I was never late on rent, or any bill for that matter. I was a quiet, clean tenant. I have never had any problems with the law and kept to myself. I actually would tell people how much I loved living there, but now that has changed. I recently moved out and requested a walk through. Well they only do them monday-friday 9-4. Very convenient for the people who work 8-5. I told them I work and I was told to use my lunch break or take off work early. They run a rental property, it is NOT a 9-4 job. So my husband did the walk through on his day off. When the manager did the walk through, she seemed like she had some chip on her shoulder and was annoyed throughout the whole thing. I was then told I was being charged $90 for knife marks on the counter top. The knife marks were there when I moved in but b/c I didn't place them on the move in sheet, I am charged. Which is fine, my fault for not putting it on there, even though when I moved in, they told me to write only what was broken on the move in sheet. Knife marks on a countertop is not broken, but I digress. I then called back requesting to see an invoice to prove that they actually fixed the countertop. I was told that it takes 30-60 days to get the invoice and that if I don't pay the bill within two weeks, I will be sent to collections. Now this manager was rude throughout the whole thing. Not once have I been thanked for my business of over 2 years. I have never been late on anything and because I asked for an invoice to prove they did the work, I am being treated like some delinquent. All I want is an invoice. Who pays anything without seeing an invoice before they pay it' So due to this experience, I will NEVER rent from Hilands or any of Northland Investment Corporations properties again. And I will make sure I tell everyone to never rent from them as well. Please be aware of any business who treats you so great on lease signing day, but changes their tune when you move out. You should be treated just as great from day one to the end.
