Apartment Review
Horrible place!

Everything was fine when I first moved in, but the quality of EVERYTHING plummeted after about a year. The GPA rewards program was good, but they always "forgot" to make a note of any amount that I got off my rent and every month, like clockwork, there was a note on my door saying that I owed them something - then I'd have to go down to the office and sit there while they went through my entire record and realized that, yeah, I really didn't owe them any money. Huge waste of time! They had "hired security" - I saw one VERY questionable security guy one time who asked for my name and what apartment I was in, then I never saw any security ever again. The community is gated. When I moved in, the office people said that they had no automatic gate openers and to "come back later" so that they could issue me one. I lived there for almost 3 years and I never got one - I always had to punch in the code. Not a huge deal, but it's the principle. The gates are usually broken anyway, so I suppose it doesn't matter. This goes double for the key-lock gates. Residents are too lazy to get their keys out to open the gates, so they just break them instead - that way, anyone can come in whenever! Convenient! The maintenance guy was very nice, but didn't speak English so telling him when things were broken was a game of charades. They once left me with a broken air conditioner for 4 days in the summer. Then when they finally tried to enter my apartment to fix it, they couldn't get in because someone had "mysteriously" lost the set of keys that they had to my apartment. They threatened to change the locks on me if I didn't come home from school to let them in. The best part of the Zona Rio experience was that I didn't see one penny of my $200 deposit, PLUS they charged me an extra $98 for a "general cleaning" that had already been done by us before vacating. Huge ripoff, huge waste of time - don't bother.
